Existing possibilities for evaluating sperm quality and fertility

Existing possibilities for evaluating sperm quality and fertility

Monatshefte fur Veterinarmedizin 45(10): 348-352

Bull ejaculates were evaluated, using the ethidium bromide (EB), succinate dehydrogenase (SD) and primulin tests. In the 1st series of trials, semen was subjected to cold shock, centrifugation or no treatment , and was diluted 1:1-1:20. Using the SD test, the percentage of damaged spermatozoa averaged 54.1+or-23.7 (39.5-100) vs. 58.0+or-23.8 (44.0-100) for the primulin test, and the correlation between results using the 2 tests was 0.91.
