Expansion characteristics of rectorite

Expansion characteristics of rectorite

Clay Science 7(5): 297-306

The expansion-collapse characteristics of rectorites were investigated by X-ray diffraction under a range of relative humidities, ethylene glycol and glycerol treatments and the Greene-Kelly test. The expandability of rectorites were more similar to that of beidellites than montmorillonites. Their distinctive nature was shown under the 30-90% relative humidity conditions (Na- and Ba-form), ethylene glycol treatment (K-form) and Greene-Kelly test.
