Expected poverty under risk-induced welfare variability

A methodological approach is applied to the issue of how risk affects poverty and to household level data for dry areas of rural India. Since both risk and poverty have been central concerns of agricultural development policy, the effects on poverty of changes in shared risk, such as due to income stabilization policies, are examined.
