Experience from the Peasant Mechanization Project in Ivory Coast: thoughts on innovation adoption and farmer support systems

Experience from the Peasant Mechanization Project in Ivory Coast: thoughts on innovation adoption and farmer support systems

Cahiers de la Recherche Developpement (18): 1-13

The success of a mechanization scheme in the Central region of Ivory Coast is reported. The Projet National de Promotion de la Mecanisation Paysanne (PMP) was set up in 1981. PMP carried out on-station and on-farm reseach between 1981-84, and between 1985-87 established mechanization-extension projects in four separate regions, one of which is the focus of this study. Ten farmer groups from six villages are involved in the project activities.
