Using the example of the Magdeburg Quality Vegetables Cooperative Association, the following points are dealt with: (1) vegetable production and processing requirements, especially in the Magdeburg area; (2) experience in setting up first stage processing plants in socialist farms; (3) need for the creation of long term interlocking relationships; (4) experience of the production and processing of vegetables in close cooperation with collective farms (LPG) and processing enterprises; and (5) conclusions on how such processes should be managed.
