Experience with a Welte forwarder system

The forwarder unit developed by Welte consists of an ES805 4-wheel skidder (89 hp) with a mounted crane (reach 5.5 m) and a power-driven trailer. Experience with the unit in W. Germany since 1985 is reviewed, including various modifications, performance data from work studies, and calculation of machine costs by the FAO method. The studies covered loading and transport of long assortments and shortwood. The data (spring 1988) indicate costs of 12.15 DM/msuperscript 3.
