Experience with the French AXE

Experience with the French AXE

Pennsylvania Fruit News 68(5): 23-25

The AXE is a central leader tree trained against a vertical bamboo pole supported by 2-3 wires strung between tall posts. The system was developed for apples, but has been adapted for stone fruits. The apple rootstocks used are mainly M.9 and M.26, and the trees reach 3-5 m or more in height.
