Experiences and results of outdoor management of young fattening bulls

Experiences and results of outdoor management of young fattening bulls

Tierzucht 41(2): 64-66

Data on the fattening performance of 36 948 bulls, kept in outdoor enclosures for various periods from Apr. to Oct., from a body weight of approx. 170 kg, were analysed. Daily gain averaged 801 g, feed consumption per kg gain 4.75 FU, and body weight at the end of the outdoor period 263.3 kg. Bulls kept outdoors for <2 months had lower daily gains than those kept there for >2 months, and daily gain of bulls placed outdoors in Apr. was 10% lower than that bulls placed outdoors in May or later.
