Experiment to measure the effects of interaction of genes determining the expression of heterosis in wheat

Experiment to measure the effects of interaction of genes determining the expression of heterosis in wheat

Selektsiya i Semenovodstvo, Moscow (5): 18-22

In a study of variation in grain weight/ear in 10 F1 and F2 hybrids from a diallel set of crosses involving 5 spring varieties, the F1s on average did not exceed the parents in the trait studied (1.93 g vs. 1.91 g), the exception being those involving Moskovskaya 35. Allelic interactions affecting the character were greatest in hybrids with Moskovskaya 35 and least in those with 30H70, while the reverse was true for non-allelic interactions.
