Experimental Escherichia coli infection of young rabbits; effects of litter origin and immune competence

Experimental Escherichia coli infection of young rabbits; effects of litter origin and immune competence

Revue de Medecine Veterinaire 140(3): 213-219

When the litters of three pairs of rabbits were experimentally infected with E. coli, the mortality in these litters ranged from none to 100%. Proliferation of lymphocytes from these rabbits in vitro was strongly inhibited by phytohaemagglutinin, but stimulated by killed E. coli. There were indications of a weak immune response in the litter with 100% mortality.
