Experimental candidiasis in carbon tetrachloride-induced liver injury

The effects of severe liver injury on susceptibility to Candida albicans infection were evaluated using experimental candidosis in mice with carbon tetrachloride-induced liver injury. In mice administered carbon tetrachloride, liver injury was characterized by necrosis of liver parenchyma predominantly distributed in the centrilobular area. With intravenous inoculation of C. albicans, these mice died earlier and the survival rate was 0%.
