Experimental demonstration of the possibility of managing the vector capacity of malarial mosquitoes

Experimental demonstration of the possibility of managing the vector capacity of malarial mosquitoes

Meditsinskaya Parazitologiya i Parazitarnye Bolezni (6): 22-26

An antibiotic, fitobacteriomycin applied at sublethal concentration had a larvicidal effect on Aedes aegypti and Anopheles stephensi. It also killed pupae and the adult females had a 1.5- to 3-fold higher death rate following blood meals than the controls. The aggressivity of the experimental females was reduced 1.5-fold for A. stephensi and 2-fold for Aedes aegypti.
