Experimental induction of swine atrophic rhinitis by Bordetella bronchiseptica, Pasteurella multocida and their combined infection

Culture suspensions of Bordetella bronchiseptica (B.b.) 12-1 strain cultured in Tryptic soy broth at 37 degrees C for 36 hours and Pasteurella multocida type D (P.m.-D) 12948 strain cultured in brain-heart infusion broth for 24 hours were used for experimental studies. Four-day-old piglets born to sows without B. b. and P. m.-D antibodies were inoculated intranasally with 1 ml of B. b.or P. m.-D alone, or with their combined suspensions, every day for 3 and 5 days.
