Experimental infection of bulls with Mycoplasma bovis or M. bovigenitalium

Cultures of either mycoplasma were infused into the prepuce of 8 bulls and retained there for 30 minutes; this treatment was repeated on 3 successive days. The bulls were slaughtered after 8-10 weeks for pathological and bacteriological examination. Mycoplasmas were recovered from preputial washings and semen (but not from nasal swabs) on various occasions in 7 bulls.
