Experimental infestation of sheep with Psoroptes ovis in summer

Experimental infestation of sheep with Psoroptes ovis in summer

Therios 13(61): 28-30, 32-34

In the Buenos Aires region sheep scab is endemic in winter, while lesions disappear in summer. Of 14 one-year-old sheep artifically infested with Psoroptes ovis in summer, half were given the usualy maintenance ration and half received only enough for survival. Clinical mange developed rapidly in the latter group, while the former group remained free from lesions.
