Experimental inoculation of beagle dogs permits serological differentiation of phocine and canine distemper virus

Experimental inoculation of beagle dogs permits serological differentiation of phocine and canine distemper virus

Wiener Tierarztliche Monatsschrift 77(4): 105-108

A strain of morbillivirus from Phoca vitulina, propagated in phocine kidney cells, was instilled in the nose of 3 colostrum-deprived pups at 10 weeks of age. Another 2 pups were inoculated similarly with the Rockborn strain of distemper virus. Two uninoculated pups were kept in contact with the phocine virus group. After 7 weeks the dogs were inoculated nasally with the respective heterologous virus.
