Individuals of Ornithodoros papillipes and O. moubata from laboratory populations were infected simultaneously with tick-borne encephalitis virus (strain Sof'in) and S. typhimurium LT-2, offered in guineapig blood. Infected ticks were dissected at intervals from 12 h to 2 months. In adults of O. tholozani, a reduction in virus titre was observed by day 20-30 after infection (pi) and the virus was absent by day 60 pi.
