Experimental observations on the role of Sphaerospora renicola in the aetiology of swim-bladder inflammation in carp (Cyprinus carpio)

Experimental observations on the role of Sphaerospora renicola in the aetiology of swim-bladder inflammation in carp (Cyprinus carpio)

Bolezni i parazity v teplovodnom rybnom khozyaistve: 50-56

Two series of experiments were undertaken, in which the body cavity of young carp were injected either with a homogenate of the swim-bladders of carp suffering swim-bladder inflammation (SBI) or with blood from carp containing type "C" protozoa. The findings confirmed that the agents of SBI are pre-sporogonic stages of S. renicola, the spores and other developmental stages of which are found in the kidney tubules.
