Experimental poisoning of cattle with T-2 mycotoxin

The T-2 toxin was isolated from Fusarium sporotrichiella grown on millet. In 20 calves, the oral administration of one mg/kg was required to give any clinical sign of toxicity, while the minimal lethal dose was 3 mg/kg. Given 2 mg/kg, calves showed a 48% increase in haemoglobin, and a 24% increase in the erythrocyte count.
