Experimental results with iceberg lettuce

Experimental results with iceberg lettuce

Gemuse Munchen 23(8): 358-359

In spring 1985 and 1986, lettuces of Salinas grown in the field in the Algarve were irrigated according to the amount of solar radiation they received. Depending on developmental stage, this was set at 0.4, 0.7 or 1.0 mm water per 419 J/msuperscript 2 of radiation after allowing for rainfall. A total of 200 mm water produced the greatest mean head weight (>800 g).
