Feed intake, nutrient utilization and growth in male buffalo calves fed different levels of protein and energy

Feed intake, nutrient utilization and growth in male buffalo calves fed different levels of protein and energy

Buffalo Journal 4(2): 131-138

From 80-90 kg to 300 kg liveweight, 24 male buffalo calves were given diets low in protein and low, medium or high in energy (groups 1-3), or high in protein and low, medium or high in energy (groups 4-6). Low- and high-protein diets contained 75 and 100%, respectively, of NRC (1976) requirements for beef cattle for daily weight gain of 500 g, and low, medium and high energy diets contained 90, 100 and 110% of NRC requirements.
