Finite element analysis of forces on a plane soil blade

A non-linear 3D finite element model was developed to predict the soil forces on a cultivation tool. The weighted residual method was applied to formulate the finite element model. The Duncan and Chang hyperbolic stress-strain model was used in the analysis. A FORTRAN program was written to conduct the finite element analysis. The reaction force was obtained from the failure zone calculated by the finite element model.
