Floral anatomy of Aglaonema pictum (Araceae)

Beitrage zur Biologie der Pflanzen 63(3): 453-462

A. pictum has unisexual flowers which lack a perianth. Male flowers have only one stamen. Female flowers have a pseudomonomeric gynoecium which is at least bicarpellate. Study of the vascular system showed that the gynoecium probably consists of 4-7 carpels, most of which are rudimentary and sterile.
