In a study of 17 lines in 1982 and 16 in 1983, together with their hybrids from diallel crosses, and in a study at 2 stand densities involving 8 lines in 1983 and 7 in 1984, together with their hybrids from diallel crosses, cultivation conditions had a marked effect on the character studied, which was controlled mainly by genes with overdominance effects. Under favourable conditions, the overdominance effect was more pronounced.
