Growth and yield of introduced alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) cultivars in Korea

Thirty-two M. sativa cultivars were evaluated in field trials in the Korea Republic. Stands were cut on 20 May, 22 June and 29 July. Plant height ranged from an av. 61.56 cm at each cut for Pioneer 5929 to 86.11 cm for Diamond. Av. DM yield/cut ranged from 0.76 kg/msuperscript 2 for Maxidor to 1.48 kg for Pike. DM yield tended to be greater in taller cultivars.
