Heat tolerance of one day old chickens

Heat tolerance of one day old chickens

Proceedings 14th International Conference Animal Air Transportation Association, Inc May 8-11, 1988, Amsterdam, The Netherlands: 187-212

Results are given from two research projects to optimize air transport conditions for day-old chicks. It was concluded that, based on performance during a 14-day recovery period, the dry-bulb temperature during transport should be below 37 degrees C. In a second experiment, temperatures inside the transport boxes were 8-14 degrees C higher than the environemental temperature.
