Heating greenhouses with waste water from the Asco nuclear plant

CNRE Bulletin, European Cooperative Networks on Rural Energy, Italy (15): 75-76

An experimental greenhouse heating system, using waste water from the cooling tower of a nuclear power plant at Asco, Spain, for the production of ornamental plants, is reported. Water is supplied at temp. of from 25.1-34.5 degrees C, depending on time of year, and meets >90% of heating requirements. Heating system design, particularly piping layout and heat transfer arrangements, is outlined.
