Helminths of Iberian amphibia and reptiles: current knowledge, ecology and biogeography

Helminths of Iberian amphibia and reptiles: current knowledge, ecology and biogeography

Mamiferos y Helmintos: 143-161

The helminths parasitic in Iberian amphibians and reptiles are reviewed. Their ecology and community structure are discussed for both host groups with regard to parasite life cycle, host habitat, parasite specificity and host range. The biogeography of parasite invasion of the Iberian peninsula is examined in relation to the immigration routes of their poikilothermic hosts.
