Hemocytes of baculovirus-infected Tipula paludosa larvae (Diptera: Tipulidae)

Hemocytes of baculovirus-infected Tipula paludosa larvae (Diptera: Tipulidae)

Journal of Invertebrate Pathology 523: 393-400

In larvae of Tipula paludosa infected with a single-nucleocapsid-per-virion nuclear polyhedrosis virus (SNPV), prohaemocytes and plasmatocytes were the main cell types infected. The total haemocyte count increased to a peak on day 21 after inoculation with the majority of haemocytes SNPV-infected. Counts of amoeboid plasmatocytes and granular cells quickly rose in infected larvae, but later fell, along with oenocytoid counts.
