Herbicidal properties of Mon 7200, highly active herbicide for transplant rice

The properties of Mon 7200 (dithiopyr) are described and the results of trials are reported. It showed good activity on most major annual weeds, especially Echinochloa crus-galli and Monochoria vaginalis. E. crus-galli at 1.5 leaf stage was controlled by 0.06 kg/ha pre-em. and 0.12 kg/ha post-em. Herbicidal activity was not affected by soil type, water depth or temperature. Mon 7200 was well tolerated by transplanted rice even at 0.96 kg/ha.
