Herbicide control of locoweeds: a review

Herbicide control of locoweeds: a review

Weed Technology 2(4): 460-465

Locoweed (Astragalus sp. and Oxytropis sp.) poisoning of livestock is the most widespread poisonous plant problem in the western USA. Hand grubbing, the most common method of control before phenoxy herbicides, is practical in small pastures. 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T generally control locoweeds effectively if applied when plants are actively growing and soil moisture is not limiting plant growth.
