Herbicide control of wild oats in Kentucky bluegrass seed production fields and their effect on components of seed yield

Of the herbicides evaluated in 1985-86 for the control of Avena fatua in seedling Poa pratensis, difenzoquat gave excellent control of the weed at the 5- to 7-leaf stage. MSMA was also effective when the temp. was relatively high at the time of application, but barban was inconsistent. In established P. pratensis at Pomeroy and Pullman, barban delayed maturity and decreased seed yield and germination. Seed yields were also reduced by MSMA but were unaffected by difenzoquat.
