Herbicide efficacy and crop tolerance after summer foliar treatment with sulfometuron-methyl and metsulfuron-methyl

Sulfometuron methyl at 150 and 300 g/ha and metsulfuron methyl at 36 and 72 g/ha was applied to a 2-year-old clearcut site in Aug. 1986. Only the high rate of sulfometuron-methyl controlled the Rubus idaeus for 2 growing seasons. Grasses were controlled by both rates of sulfometuron-methyl for 2 seasons but were resistant to metsulfuron-methyl.
