Herbivore effects on seeded alfalfa at four pinyon-juniper sites in central Utah

Herbivore effects on seeded alfalfa at four pinyon-juniper sites in central Utah

Journal of Range Management 42(6): 483-490

Effects of rabbits (Lepus californicus, Sylvilagus spp.), mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus) and livestock (mainly cattle) on Medicago sativa were studied on 4 sites in central Utah. Sites were dominated by Pinus edulis and Juniperus osteosperma, and were double-chained and sown with a mixture of grasses, forbs and shrubs between 1959 and 1962.
