Herbivores and plant tannins

Herbivores and plant tannins

Advances in Ecological Research ( 19): 263-302

The historical background to the interest in tannins, which has increased considerably over the last 15 years, is reviewed. The distribution of tannins in green plants is discussed in taxonomic terms and correlative evidence of ecological importance shown to be particularly difficult because of the co-occurrence of other factors important to animals, both vertebrates and invertebrates.
