Hybrid vigour and combining ability in wheat (T. aestivum L.) for yield and its components, tillering, height and heading date



Turrialba 39(2): 184-192



Eight quantitative characters were studied in the progenies of a diallel cross involving 5 cultivars. Increases in yield were associated with increases in spikes per plant, spikelets per spike and grains per spike. The heading date of the hybrids approached that of the earlier parent while heights were the same as the average height of the parents.
