Inheritance of flesh colour and its correlation with other traits in sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas)

Inheritance of flesh colour and its correlation with other traits in sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas)

Jiangsu Journal of Agricultural Sciences 4(2): 30-34

In a study of the progenies of 10 crosses between 9 parents with varied flesh colour intensity, the latter was highly correlated with carotenoid content. The general mean content of carotenoid in the F1 increased with the increase in parental mean content (r = 0.86). Flesh colour was controlled polygenically. A negative correlation was found between carotenoid and DM contents.
