The vertical distribution of 134Cs, 137Cs, 103Ru, 106Ru and 131I was determined in two soils soon after the deposition of fallout from the reactor accident in Chernobyl. The observed rates of migration of the Cs-isotopes were between 0.2 and 0.3 cm hour and the Ru and I between 0.3 and 1.5 cm/hour.
