Intraspecific variation of two components in sex pheromone gland of Planotortrix excessana sibling species

, : Intraspecific variation of two components in sex pheromone gland of Planotortrix excessana sibling species. Journal of Chemical Ecology, 152: 457-465

Pheromones from females of a sibling species of Planotortrix excessana from several populations collected in New Zealand were analyzed. Two components, (Z)-5-tetradecenyl acetate and (Z)-7-tetradecenyl acetate, varied continuously from a ratio of 3:97 to 71:29. Laboratory colonies were established from populations representing the 2 extremes of this range.
