Investigations on determination of the irrigation rates in diluvial clay loam soils
The irrigation rate, experimentally measured during the inter-irrigation period, and retention in the profile, were compared to that calculated by the Kostyakov formula. Trials were carried out on diluvial clay loam soils (Sofia, Bulgaria) to determine the variation in the pre-irrigation moisture contents. It was found that the soil water retention capacity changed throughout the irrigation season, and often differed from that calculated by the formula.
