Investigations on the relationships between milk yield, udder health, milk protein and blood protein polymorphism in cattle

Investigations on the relationships between milk yield, udder health, milk protein and blood protein polymorphism in cattle

Zuchtungskunde 62(1): 3-14

Data were analysed on milk and blood samples from 614 and 309 German Black Pied cows resp. which calved from 1 Feb. 1984 to 28 Feb. 1985, and had completed their 1st lactation. The milk samples were obtained weekly. Udder health was evaluated on a 6-point scale based on cell count in milk (1 = no test with >100 000 cells/ml; 6 = <more or =>5 tests with >300 000 cells/ml). The regression of milk yield on udder health was -37.82 kg per point.
