Is European agriculture competitive in the face of its North American competitors? An analysis based on a comparison of producer prices

, : Is European agriculture competitive in the face of its North American competitors? An analysis based on a comparison of producer prices. Economie Rurale ( 196): 23-31

A comparative analysis is made of the producer prices obtained for each unit of agricultural product marketed between the two main groups of countries, the EC and North America. The analysis covers the period 1973-87 and concerns the principal agricultural products, specifically wheat, secondary cereals such as barley and maize, oil products, sugar, milk, beef and pigmeat.
