Isolation and characterzation of cyanobacterium Anabaena variabilis mutants resistant to amino acid analogs


, : Isolation and characterzation of cyanobacterium Anabaena variabilis mutants resistant to amino acid analogs. Moscow University Biological Sciences Bulletin 44(1): 41-45

Mutants of cyanobacterium Anabaena variabilis resistant to 5-fluorotryptophan, p-fluorophenylalanine, ethionine, and azetidine-2-carboxylic acid, analogues respectively of tryptophan, phenylalanine, methionine, and proline, were isolated. The cross-resistance of the mutants to the analogues used and their ability to secrete amino acids into the culture medium were studied. Four of the isolated mutants, resistant only to one analogue, did not synthesize an increased amount of amino acids.
