, : Isolation and identification of a type II avirulent Marek's disease virus from chickens of local breed in Yangzhou. Chinese Journal of Virology 4(2): 131-136

One Marek's disease virus (MDV) field isolate, designated Z4, was identified as serotype II MDV. On primary isolation, Z4 virus grew slowly in chicken embryo fibroblast (CEF) cell cultures. Typical plaque characterized by rounded refractile degenerating cell and some large syncytia did not develop until the 12th day after inoculation.
