The object of this study was to establish whether cells infected with equine infectious anaemia virus are destroyed by direct cytotoxicity or by antibody-dependent-cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC). The response of peripheral blood lymphocytes from 10 non-infected, 19 chronically infected and 11 acutely infected horses to mitogens and specific antigens in the presence of serum from healthy, chronically infected and acutely infected horses was studied.
