Mutagenicity and DNA-damaging activity of calamus oil, asarone isomers, and dimethoxypropenylbenzene analogues

Mutagenicity and DNA-damaging activity of calamus oil, asarone isomers, and dimethoxypropenylbenzene analogues

Philippine Entomologist 7(3): 275-291

Three short-term assays were used to examine the mutagenic and carcinogenic potential of European calamus oil asarone isomers and dimethoxypropenylbenzene (DMPB) analogues. The Salmonella typhimurium test system (TA100, TA97, TA98, TA1535, TA1537, TA1538) showed none of the substances to be mutagenic, even in the presence of metabolizing enzymes from rat liver.
