Mutant X variety hybridization in spring wheat: use of the phenomenon of genetic instability

Many years' work in the Byelorussian SSR on crossing genetically unstable mutants with varieties is reported. This approach was found superior to intervarietal and distant hybridization in terms of the range of variation in the hybrids, cross compatibility and fertility.
