The authors discuss studies of the genetic basis of triazine herbicide resistance in algal and bacterial photosystems and the transfer of resistance to crops under headings which include: herbicide inhibition of photosystem II electron tansport; the fine structure of the herbicide resistance site; yield penalties in herbicide resistant crops; and the genetic nature of herbicide resistance.
