Mycoflora and mycotoxins of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) seeds in Egypt. II- Sterigmatocystin production by thermophilic (or thermotolerant) fungi

Mycoflora and mycotoxins of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) seeds in Egypt. II- Sterigmatocystin production by thermophilic (or thermotolerant) fungi

Pakistan Journal of Biochemistry 20(1-2): 1-9

Using a dilution-plate method on 1% glucose - Czapek's agar at 45 degrees C, 18 fungi belonging to 10 genera were isolated from 36 sunflower seed samples from Egypt. Aspergillus fumigatus, A. nidulans and Mucor pusillus were most common, occurring in 91.7, 63.9 and 63.9% of the samples, respectively.
