N-(phenylmethyl)-1H-purine-6-amine (BA) as a chemical thinner for 'Idared' apple

N-(phenylmethyl)-1H-purine-6-amine (BA) as a chemical thinner for 'Idared' apple

Acta Horticulturae ( 239): 357-362

BA reduced fruit-set and final yield at concentrations up to 150 mg/litre as dilute sprays. Fruit size was increased by BA treatments up to 100 mg/litre but it was decreased slightly at 150 mg/litre. When BA at 50 mg/litre was supplemented with carbaryl (CB) as a tank mix, cropping was reduced to less than 20% of controls. CB alone (600 mg/litre) reduced fruit-set by 57% and yield by 54%.
